Commercial Pilot

Overview

This course is completed in two major phases:

Prior to beginning commerical maneuvers training, you must attain a minimum of 225 total flight hours. Most students require approximately 100 hours of flight time to reach this number. While the regulations don't require this time to be "cross country", expanding your flying experience helps you refine the skills that you have learned up to this point in your training. We strongly recommend that this phase of the course is flown with another student working together in a crew environment.

Commercial maneuvers training is designed to teach you how to control an airplane with greater precision through advanced flight maneuvers. You will also gain experience flying more complex aircraft with additional systems and be introduced to multi-engine operations.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Commerical Pilot Certificate with a single engine rating. You must complete additional training to add multi-engine privileges to your certificate. This additional rating does not require full completion of the Commercial Pilot course again, it is only an add-on, so you just need to become proficient in a multi-engine airplane.

As a Commercial Pilot, your aviation world is gradually expanding. You can now be compensated for your pilot services and soon there will be new opportunities that become available to you.

Ground Course

The Commercial Pilot ground course provices students with the aeronautical knowledge needed to successfully pass the FAA Knowledge Test required for certification as an Instrument rated Private Pilot.

The course, which is fully compliant with Part 61 training standards,  is conducted entirely online and is provided by Jeppesen, the gold standard for professional aviation training.

Our flight instructors will incorporate the materials covered in the ground class into the student's flight training lessons and are responsible for validating each student's knowledge and progress through the course during flight training.

Estimated Completion Time: 26 weeks

This time is based on completing a minimum of 2 to 3 lessons each week.

Each lesson takes approximately 2.0 hours in total to complete, with 1.3 hours of flight time on average, depending on the lesson's content. Each lesson contains a pre-flight and a post-flight review with your flight instructor.

The exact length of the course is solely dependent on how much time you devote to your training.

Completion Requirements

Federal regulations require that, in order to be recommended for the Commercial Pilot Practical Test, you must:

Once you meet the requirements, you'll be scheduled for your FAA Practical Test, which will be conducted with a FAA representative.

Every student progresses through the course at their own rate of learning, so it is impossible to quote an exact cost of training to the student before beginning the course. The efficiency of a student's training is highly dependent on how they learn and the amount of effort that is devoted to their education.

Our flight instruction is finely tailored to each individual student to maximize the efficiency of their invested time and more importantly, their money. Students who complete our course tend to do so in less than the average time.
